It’s funny how when I think of my grandma, it’s not my mom’s mom or my dad’s mom, it’s someone that isn’t related to me by blood at all. The same goes for a big chunk of my family, they were all just connected to her through marriage and whatnot, but she was still 할머니 to all of us. She would always be yelling at everyone and be filled with energy. I would never forget living with her, getting hit by her broom, fighting her for the remote, eating her delicious food, and so much more.
Ever since you got sick, things weren’t the same. There was no one yelling at me when I was over, no one hitting me, or cooking for me. Seeing you so weak and fragile was more than I could bare. Starting in middle school and high school my Korean started to go away because I wasn’t spending as much time with you like I used to. When I came back a couple days ago I was excited to show you how much better I got and carry on a conversation with you at church at the table you always say at, but I guess Sunday never came for us. When I came to visit you you would always say thank you to me… But I should be the one thanking you. So here it is, hope you could read this from heaven cuz there should be no language barrier anymore. But just in case:
할머니, 고마워요.. 사랑해요
9 How can a young person stay on the path of purity?
By living according to your word.
10 I seek you with all my heart;
do not let me stray from your commands.
11 I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you.
12 Praise be to you, Lord;
teach me your decrees.
13 With my lips I recount
all the laws that come from your mouth.
14 I rejoice in following your statutes
as one rejoices in great riches.
15 I meditate on your precepts
and consider your ways.
16 I delight in your decrees;
I will not neglect your word.
What does “purity” mean? Does it mean keeping yourself clean? Does it mean not doing bad things? Does it mean to not have sex?
“Purity” means “undivided” People usually think that purity has to deal with kisses and sex, but it’s far beyond that. To maintain my purity throughout my life, I need to have my undivided focus, love, and passion to be for God. That is something that I must strive for and that is something that I WILL strive for in these next 4 years and beyond. I want to stay pure and never forget my first love.
I’ll make it! I’ll walk there if I have to >:b
When adversity comes, your focus should be on God.
